OQ Product Reviews

Here at OQHQ I've been asked by various companies to review their products, so here goes...

The Gaastra Gore-Tex San Diego bomber jacket

Hello sailor! Okay so I'm not a sailor I'm a cyclist, but being based here in Mallorca I have a very outdoor lifestyle so this jacket was going to be throughly tested in a variety of activities and conditions.

First impressions...

The San Diego jacket loks really smart with great innovative technical fabrics. I was sent the navy version of the women's jacket in a size small to test out. I'm a UK size 10 and 5ft 6 (and a bit! That bit counts) and for some reason I have particularly long arms (no I'm not a monkey!) but sometimes I struggle to get jackets to fit with long enough sleeves so usually have to go up a size then the jacket is too big. The San Diego fit perfectly.
I'm not a huge fan of massive logos and writing on my clothes so this ticked my first box of 'stealth smart jacket' with the Gaastra iconic logo on the zipper and left arm you can recognise the high quality immediately. I also own other Gaastra products and they are extremely hard wearing and eye catching too with unique design points.

Testing the San Diego jacket out on the scooter in the Tramuntana Mountains, Mallorca.
Practicality...

The high fleece lined collar and wide elasticated double cosy cuffs (along with Velcro tabs) on the sleeves meant I stayed super warm out walking and out the scooter too!

The pockets are fleece lined too which helps keep your hands and phone cosy too...No scratches on your precious phone screen.
The jacket also has a thick elasticated waist band to give it that distinctive bomber jacket style and it also helps keep you warm keeping any draught out.
The jacket has a zipped pocket inside the jacket too, to stow away any little bits and bobs (keys, business cards, passport etc) safely.
The quilted lining and innovative Gore-Tex means the jacket is both wind proof and waterproof but it is also breathable so you don't end up sweating and over heating!
Although the jacket is quite plain, (I tend to like plain things as the rest of me is pretty crazy/wild/striking) there are some really nice touches with the reflective Gaastra writing on the back of the collar and small GaastraPro logo by the zipped pocket as well as the iconic Gaastra logo in black rubber on the left arm, this adds to the brand awareness and styling.

Cost...

Like most multi purpose jackets this isn't cheap but well worth the money.
The San Diego retails at 349.95€ but is on sale at an awesome discounted price at 229.99€ on the Gaastra website Gaastra Pro Shop
It's part of Gaastra's pro range and is good for all seasons as well as most action packed activities, so definitely a must for all sporty action girls/guys wardrobes.

OQ rating...
5 out of 5!

Stylish, cosy and good for all action packed activities as well as casual wear!
